It is worth being honest about what enlargement can and cannot do. The detail in a photograph is fixed at the moment it is captured. Scaling up cannot recover a face that was never resolved or text that was already a blur — anything claiming otherwise is inventing plausible detail rather than recovering real detail. What good upscaling does is enlarge what is there while keeping edges crisp and avoiding the soft, mushy look of a naive stretch.
Within that limit it is genuinely useful. A logo supplied at 200 pixels needs to sit on a banner. An old profile photo is the only copy you have and the new site wants something larger. A product image from a supplier is too small for your listing.
