Documents rarely come out of a scanner in the order you wanted them. Feeders pull sheets in reverse, someone loads a stack upside down halfway through, and a page or two gets scanned twice. Fixing that one operation at a time is tedious, because rotating means one tool, reordering means another, and deleting a third. Seeing every page as a thumbnail and fixing all three problems at once is far quicker.
It is also how you assemble a document for someone else to read. A tender response or a case file usually needs a specific sequence: cover letter, summary, then appendices in the order the recipient asked for. Dragging pages into that shape while looking at them is much more reliable than working from remembered page numbers, and you can see immediately whether the result reads properly from front to back.
How to Organize PDF

Tips & common problems
Fix rotation here rather than in your viewer
Rotating a page in Acrobat or Preview sometimes only changes how it displays. Rotating here writes the new orientation into the file, so it prints and opens correctly everywhere.
Large documents take a moment to render
Thumbnails for a few hundred pages are generated in your browser and can take several seconds. The delay is one-off — dragging afterwards is instant.
Reverse an entire back-to-front scan quickly
If a feeder scanned the whole stack in reverse, drag the last page to the front and work inwards. It is faster than moving each page individually from the top.
Do all your rearranging in one visit
Every download rebuilds the file. Making all your changes in a single session rather than across several passes keeps things simple and avoids stacking up half-edited copies.

Will my links and form fields survive?
Page content, images and text come through intact. Interactive elements tied to a specific page position, such as form fields, may not follow a page that has moved — check them if your document is a fillable form.
