About Split PDF
Split PDF cuts one PDF into several smaller documents along the page ranges you specify. Give it a range like 1-4, 5-12, and you get back separate files containing exactly those pages. It runs in your browser, costs nothing, and adds no watermark.
Splitting usually comes up when a document is really several documents wearing a trench coat. A scanner that batches an entire tray into one PDF is the classic culprit: forty pages that are actually twelve unrelated invoices. Bank statements arrive the same way, a full year in a single download when your accountant only asked for Q3. Rather than printing and rescanning, you cut the ranges you need and keep the rest.
The other frequent case is sharing selectively. A hundred-page tender response might contain one commercial section you are happy to send to a subcontractor and ninety pages you are not. Splitting produces a genuinely separate file rather than a copy with pages hidden, so there is no residual data left behind for someone to recover. Because the split happens locally in your browser, the confidential pages are never transmitted anywhere in the first place.
How to Split PDF

Tips & common problems
Ranges are inclusive at both ends
The range 1-3 gives you three pages: 1, 2 and 3. It is a common mistake to expect it to stop at page 2.
Overlaps are allowed
Nothing stops you entering 1-10 and 5-15. Page 5 through 10 will simply appear in both output files, which is occasionally useful when sections share a cover page.
Check the page count first
Asking for a range that runs past the end of the document is the most common cause of an error. Open the PDF and confirm the real page count before entering ranges.
Pages are copied, not re-encoded
Splitting does not shrink a file proportionally. A 40MB scan split in half gives two files of roughly 20MB each, not two small ones — the images come along at full resolution.

Page content, text and images transfer exactly. Bookmarks pointing to pages outside the range you extracted no longer have a destination, so they are dropped.
