Resize PDF

Change every page to A4, Letter, Legal, A3 or A5. Content is scaled to fit and centred, never stretched. Runs in your browser.

About Resize PDF

Resize PDF puts every page of a document onto a standard paper size — A4, US Letter, Legal, A3 or A5. Each page’s content is scaled proportionally to fit and centred on the new sheet, so nothing is stretched, cropped or distorted.

Mismatched page sizes cause more printing trouble than people expect. A document assembled from American and European sources mixes Letter and A4 pages, so some print with a white strip at the bottom and others get their footers clipped. Scanned pages are often a few millimetres off any standard size. Exported slides come out wide and short. Resizing everything to one paper size gives you a file that prints and binds consistently.

Official submissions are the other common case. Courts, universities, visa offices and many online portals insist on A4 or Letter and reject anything else. Rather than re-exporting from the original application — which you may not have — you can conform the PDF you already hold in one pass.

Orientation can follow each page or be forced. “Keep each page’s” leaves landscape pages landscape and portrait pages portrait; choosing Portrait or Landscape puts every page the same way round. A small margin keeps edge-to-edge content clear of a printer’s unprintable border.

How to resize PDF pages

  1. Add the PDF you want to resize.
  2. Choose the target paper size — A4, Letter, Legal, A3 or A5.
  3. Pick an orientation: keep each page’s own, or force portrait or landscape.
  4. Add a small or normal margin if the content runs to the edges.
  5. Click Resize & download.

Tips & common problems

Content is scaled, not reflowed

A PDF is a fixed layout, so text cannot rewrap to a new width. Shrinking Letter to A5 makes everything proportionally smaller — check that small print is still readable before you send it.

Use a margin for edge-to-edge scans

Most office printers cannot print the outer few millimetres. If a scan runs to the edges, a small margin stops the outermost text being lost.

Rotated pages stay the right way up

Pages that were displayed rotated keep their rotation, and the new size is applied to how the page looks on screen — so a sideways scan does not come out sideways.

Resizing does not shrink the file

This changes the paper size, not the data inside. To make the file smaller in megabytes, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change a PDF from Letter to A4?

Add the file, choose A4 and click Resize & download. Each page is scaled to fit A4 and centred, so nothing is cut off.

Will resizing distort my pages?

No. Content is scaled by the same amount horizontally and vertically, so proportions are preserved. Any leftover space becomes a white border.

What are the exact sizes used?

A4 is 210 × 297 mm, Letter 8.5 × 11 in, Legal 8.5 × 14 in, A3 297 × 420 mm and A5 148 × 210 mm.

Is text still selectable after resizing?

Yes. Pages are placed as vector content, not turned into images, so text stays sharp, searchable and selectable.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser; the file never leaves your device.
