About Compare PDF
Compare PDF puts two versions of a document side by side and highlights what changed between them. Instead of reading both files and hoping you notice, you get the differences marked for you. Free, and both uploads are deleted as soon as the comparison is produced.
The situation is always the same: someone returns a document saying they made a few small changes. Trusting that description is how unfavourable terms get signed. A revised contract might differ in the payment window, a liability cap and a notice period — three short phrases buried in fifteen pages of text that is otherwise word for word identical. Human proofreading is very good at catching a rewritten paragraph and very bad at catching a changed number.
It also settles the everyday confusion of version sprawl. When you are holding proposal_final.pdf and proposal_final_v2.pdf with no memory of what separates them, comparing is faster than reading either. The same applies to checking that a supplier's reissued invoice differs only in the date, or confirming that a designer's revised artwork changed the one thing you asked about and nothing else.

Tips & common problems
Order matters for readability
Put the older version first and the newer one second. The differences then read as additions and removals in the direction you expect, rather than backwards.
Reformatting creates noise
If the other party changed the font or margins as well as the wording, nearly every line registers as different. Look for changed numbers and clause text rather than trying to read every highlight.
Scans need OCR first
Two scanned documents contain no text to compare, only images. Run both through OCR PDF and compare the searchable versions.
Pay closest attention to numbers and dates
The most consequential edits are usually the smallest — a percentage, a deadline, a currency amount. These are exactly what a read-through misses and a comparison catches.

The comparison focuses on text content, which is where meaningful contractual changes live. Substantially altered artwork is best checked by eye.
Why is everything showing as different?
Almost always because the layout changed — a different font, margin or line spacing shifts every line. The text may be identical; try comparing the wording of specific clauses instead.
Is there a limit on document length?
Long documents take proportionally longer to process, but there is no fixed page limit. A hundred-page contract is a perfectly normal comparison.
